    Marianne Carameta Shanazu, 51, of Fairfield, the wife of Peter Shanazu, died Tuesday at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Bridgeport, she was a lifelong Fairfield resident. She was a graduate of Western Connecticut State University as well as its senior class president. She was a member of the National Connecticut and and Trumbull education association and was named to Who’s Who Among American Teachers of High School and College Students. She was a dedicated teacher at Trumbull High School. She was a member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church Ladies Auxiliary and the Society Farsarotul. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father, James Carameta; a son, Peter Shanazu Jr., of Fairfield; a daughter, Marla Shanazu Shepard, of Massachusetts; a brother, Thomas Carameta, of Fairfield; a sister, Vivianne Falcone, of New York, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Olympia.

    Funeral services will take place today at 11 am at St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, Clinton Ave, Bridgeport. Internment will be in Lawncroft Burial Park. The Frank Polke and Son Funeral Home, 1546 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, is in charge of the arrangements.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Marianne Shanazu Scholarship fund through the funeral director.
