Margaret E. Pittu
Margaret E. Pittu, age 77 of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 17, 2007 at St. Vincent’s Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Woonsocket, R.I., to the late Michael and Nastasia Dima Dimitrescu, Margaret lived most of her life in Fairfield with her loving husband of 57 years.
Margaret was an Ultima II cosmetician at G.Fox and Filene’s Department Stores until she retired after 25 years.. Margaret was a longtime member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, she participated in many activities, including being a member of the ladies auxiliary and teaching Sunday school. Margaret loved cooking, gardening and found peace near the ocean. Her greatest joy and fullfillment came from her family, which she cherished above all else.
Margaret will be greatly missed by her husband, James T. Pittu; her sons, David Pittu and his wife, Linda, of New York and James Pittu of California;, grandchildren, Justin, Sarah, Adam and Ashley; her beloved sister, Sylvia Dimitrescu of Rhode Island; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Andronica and Kay Dimitrescu.
Funeral services were held privately in the care of the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home. Burial took place in Mt. Grove Cemetery of Easton. Memorial contributions may be made to Swim Across the Sound,c/o 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, Ct. 06606.
