Epaminondas “Pete” Balamaci
Epaminondas (Pete) Balamaci, age 90 of Fairfield, beloved husband of Angelina Costa Balamaci, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 14, 2009.
Born and raised in Bridgeport, Mr. Balamaci was a Fairfield Town resident for most of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II, seeing combat action in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland while receiving three Bronze Battle Stars. He had worked for the Fletcher Thompson Inc. in Bridgeport and later for Malcom Pirnie, Inc. from which he retired. In his youth, Pete was a talented athlete, excelling at baseball. He enjoyed caring for his garden and home, and helping his neighbors. Pete was a member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church and enjoyed reading from the Holy Bible every day.
Nondie will be lovingly remembered as a quiet and humble man, for his generous nature and especially as a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to Angelina, his devoted wife of 56 years, survivors include his daughters, Susan Balamaci of New York and Nancy Fisher and her husband, Bill of Trumbull; and his cherished granddaughters, Maris Cohen and Victoria Fisher. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Jim.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton, CT 06612. Burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery with full Military Honors. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center. The Trisagion service will be at 7:30 pm.
