    Elizabeta Babu, age 100, of Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully to go home to the Lord on November 15.

    Elizabeta was born on October 23, 1921, daughter of the late Leon and Fanica Shunda Bileca in Greece and spent her childhood in the village of Pleasë, Albania and immigrated to Romania as a young girl where she met and married her husband John. Elizabeta and her family immigrated to the United States in 1965 to be with her parents and brothers after 20 years of separation.

    Elizabeta is predeceased by her loving husband, John Babu, and brothers, Vasile, John, Dennis, and Earl Bileca. Elizabeta will be dearly missed and her passing to the Lord will be joyously remembered by her children and their spouses, Michael and Jenny Babu and Mariana and Fr. George Coca; her grandchildren (and spouses), Andy Babu and John (Alexandra), Steve Coca (Alexandra), Dean Coca (Sarah), Daniella Geer (Thomas); her 7 great-grandchildren, David, Sofia, Ava, Isabella, Christian, Carlotta, and Alexander; and her special nieces and nephews, Karen, Steve, Michael, Sari, Allison, and Billy, of Connecticut and Florida, and George and Diane of Greece.

    She had been a talented seamstress, working side by side with her husband, John, a custom tailor.

    Elizabeta was a longtime member of St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, which was a focal point in her life. She belonged to the church Retirees Group and in her time, was one of the kitchen crew making her famous pita breads and was a crocheter for the church festivals.

    Funeral services will be held on November 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Road, Easton, CT with her son-in-law, Rev. Fr. George Coca officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport, CT. Friends may call at the Church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Kindly wear a mask and practice social distancing for services.

    In lieu of flowers, those so desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Dimitrie Church. The family would like to thank the administrators and staff of Ludlowe Health Care for the special care that Elizabeta received during her stay.
