  Aspasia Chiacu

  BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Aspasia Stillu Chiacu, formerly of Bridgeport, died Wednesday, Oct. 15. She was 101.

  Chiacu was born and raised in Korce, Albania, she came to the United States in 1933, initially settling in New York City and moved to Bridgeport in 1972. She was the oldest active member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church where she belonged to the Society Farsarotul and the St. Dimitrie Seniors.

  Chiacu is survived by her daughters, Elsie Fatse (Nicholas) of Trumbull, Diane Lambro (Thomas) of Bethlehem and Barbara Russo of Sea Girt, N.J.; son-in-law, Gerald Lowe of Tafton, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Mariaka Shunda of Manasquen, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.

  She was predeceased by her husband, Leo; daughter, Mary Lowe; grandson, Gregory Lowe; siblings, Angelina Muzea, Bea Karabuzi and Pandu Stillu; and son-in-law, William Russo, Sr.
