    Cousin!! Welcome!! 😀

My Papu was Vasile Muşi, whom I used to visit in Bridgeport like you. His brother Dina’s grandson is Bob Nicola, also on this board. Our great-grandparents Toda and Vasila with sons Dina and Spiru came to America in the early 1900s, while youngest son Vasile enlisted in WWI and came over only after WWII. Toda’s father was Demitri Muşi. I also found records of a George around that time, whose daughter lives in NY. That is all I and cousins have ever found.

I have a family tree up on ancestry.com and will message you in case you want to see if it fits in with what you know. I will be happy to learn any family stories about and “meet” your elders!

Hi! I’ve seen quite a few documents online (public recordsnon Ancestry site) including ship manifests showing Vlachs traveling to Australia in the 1900s.

Aha! I was wondering why that man looked so familiar (it was your father!) Yes that’s my Papu next to Nicutsa in the sash behind your father, and my grandmother Elena Balamaci just behind him to the right in costum, and her mother Polixena Zega Balamaci at far right, also in costum.

Man in light colored suit in front on right is Dumetriu Ciufecu, spotted by his granddaughter.

  • I thought I recognized him sitting next to Teodor Ciufecu too, but let you post as you are more closely related!

Where might I see a version where the names are decipherable? This is beautiful… I can’t make out any text though…

Thank you! Perhaps he visited Bucharest in 1928 to make the recordings.
