  George Gartsu

  GARTSU- George Nicholas Gartsu, age 88, of Southport, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Pittu Gartsu, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.

  Born and raised in Woonsocket RI, son of the late Nicholas and Vasila Janelu Gartsu, Mr. Gartsu had been a Fairfield and Southport resident for most of his life.

  He was a Veteran of WWII, serving as a pilot and flight instructor in the US Navy. He had worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for over 30 years until his retirement.

  George is survived by his children, Todd Gartsu of Maine, Greg Gartsu and his wife Gwyn of Trumbull and Lisa Williams and her husband Keith of Madison. He leaves behind his grandchildren Kathryn, Sarah, Amy, Nick, Scott and John, a brother Tom Gartsu and his wife Elsie of Trumbull as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Victoria Peloquin.

  Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center. Friends may call on Sunday from 1pm until the time of services.

  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Ct Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, Ct 06067.
