    WORCESTER — Sophie (Bushe) George, 85, formerly of 77 Cutler St., a retired baker, died Friday, Feb. 9, in UMass Memorial Medical Center — Memorial Campus after an illness.

    Her husband, Vangel George, died in 1944. She leaves a son, Victor George of Holden; two daughters, Florence Rucho of West Boylston and Jeanette Harvey of Upland, Calif.; two brothers, Nicholas Vangel of Florida and John Bushe of Hampton, N.H.; three sisters, Olivia Bicki of Miami, Viola Vangel and Constance Bushe, both of Quincy; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, Theodore George of Worcester, died in 1998. Three brothers, Spiro Bushe and Peter Vangel, both of Worcester, and Henry Bushe of Brockton, predeceased her. She was born in Dishnice, Albania, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christo Bushe, and moved to the United States in 1931.

    Mrs. George was a baker 36 years for Table Talk Bakery, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church and a former member of St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church.

    The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, in St. George’s Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, in Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, in the cathedral. A Trisagion service will be held during the calling hours Sunday, Feb. 11. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Nicholas Church Building Fund, PO Box 643, Worcester, MA 01613.
