Stamatia ” Stamulica ” Bargiuma Hatzis
Stamatia ” Stamulica ” Bargiuma Hatzis, age 84, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of Christos Hatzis, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2014.
Born and raised in Krania, Macedonia, Greece, Mrs. Hatzis emigrated to the United States in 1967 and had been a Bridgeport since then. She had worked for the Hubbelll Co for several years before her retirement.
Stamulica was a longtime member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, she sang in the Church choir, belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Dimitrie Retirees group. She was also a willing volunteer for all church activities.
Stamulica liked to travel and especially enjoyed the times that she spent with her family, friends and neighbors. A loving wife, sister and aunt, she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her devoted husband Christos, Stamulica is survived by her brothers Constantine and Christos Bargiuma, sisters Eftimia Sideri and her husband Ioan and Caterina Colimitra and her husband Andrei, all of Bridgeport. She leaves behind her Goddaughter, niece Sophia Belade and her husband Mark of Shelton, a nephew Christopher Ghitsa and his wife Claudia of Trumbull as well as great-nieces Nicole, Gianna and Mia. Mrs. Hatzis was predeceased by her sister Marianna Ghitsa.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:30am, DIRECTLY at St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday ( TODAY ) from 4-8pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center with the Trisagion Service at 6:30pm.
