Priscilla Carameta
Priscilla Carameta, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on September 3, 2025. Born and raised in Bridgeport, CT, she was the eldest child of Archie and Mary (née Torovetsi) Themel.
Priscilla married Tom Carameta in 1970 and raised a family for several years in Shelton, CT, before relocating to Fairfield.
Priscilla was an example and inspiration to her children by being a loyal friend, a seeker who explored new hobbies, and seizing as many opportunities as possible to serve her local community.
A faithful Christian, she was a member of the St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church in Bridgeport and a current member of Holy Apostles Orthodox Church in Mechanicsburg. It brought her much joy to sing in the choir and help prepare the many foods served at the annual festival.
Priscilla’s professional life began in banking. She was employed by Citytrust and Chase before moving on to AG Edwards Brokerage as the office manager.
She and Tom enjoyed traveling up and down the east coast. Many trips were made with the Shanazu, Themel, and Coca families while everyone’s children were young, and then they continued traveling with new friends after their children were grown. Priscilla was a gracious host and excellent cook. She enjoyed inviting family and friends over for all sorts of occasions year round.
Priscilla became a grandmother in 2003, with the birth of her beloved granddaughter, Sophia. Shortly after her retirement, she and Tom relocated to Pennsylvania, in order to enjoy more time with their pride and joy.
Priscilla is survived by her husband, Tom; her son, James, of Los Angeles; her daughter, Mary Sak, her son-in-law, Steve Sak, and her granddaughter, Sophia Sak, of Mechanicsburg; her sister-in-law, Cheryl Themel; her sister- and brother-in-law, Vivianne and Bill Falcone; several nieces and nephews, and their families. She was sweet and loving and will be missed by all. Priscilla always had a smile on her face and something positive to say to everyone she encountered.
Priscilla was predeceased by her parents, Archie and Mary Themel; her brother, Peter Themel; and her brother- and sister-in-law, Pete and Marianne Shanazu.
Viewing begins at 10:00 am, immediately followed by services at 11:00 on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, 7111 Wertzville Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
