Margaret (Mihal) Lupu, 103
WORCESTER – Margaret (Mihal) Lupu, 103, of Worcester, formerly of Woonsocket, died Wednesday, October 24th in UMass Medical Center. Her husband, Peter Lupu died in 1959. She is survived by her daughter, Delores Lupu Felis of Worcester; a sister, Lillian Vangel of Woonsocket; her granddaughter, Margaret Felis and her husband, Andreas Tzineris; a great-grandson, Ari Tzineris and many nephews and nieces.
She was born in Korce, Albania the daughter of Thimi and Frosina (Dionis) Mihal and had lived in Woonsocket for many years before moving to Worcester. Mrs. Lupu was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and a former member of St. John the Baptist Romanian Orthodox Church in Woonsocket and had once served as President of it’s Women’s Guild and the St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Church Ladies Guild. Family was of great importance to Margaret; her greatest joy was time spent with her granddaughter. She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed embroidery.
Her funeral is Friday, October 26th with a service at Noon in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11:00 until the time of the service on Friday at the Cathedral. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements.
