Elizabeth Geambazi
Elizabeth Cashavelly Geambazi of Fairfield, CT passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s Medical Center on Tuesday, September 10th.
Elizabeth was born August 14th, 1922 in Blackstone, MA to the late George and Sophia Cashavelly.
She was predeceased by her loving, devoted husband of 65 years, Charles Geambazi. They were married October 6th, 1946, upon Charles’ return from serving in World War II. They settled in Bridgeport, CT, where they raised their loving family, daughter Susan Geambazi Neal and son Robert Geambazi. Previous to her marriage, Elizabeth worked at the mortgage department in City Savings Bank and the personnel department at Bryant Electric Company. She retired from the Harvey Hubbell Corporation in the Wage and Salary department.
Elizabeth was a lifelong member of St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, where she helped organize numerous worthwhile projects, including serving as an officer for the Ladies Auxiliary and Orthodox Council. Also, as a member of the St. Dimitrie Retirees, she served as treasurer for sixteen years.
She was a very creative person with many interests, none as great as the pride and joy she had for her family children and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Susan Neal, her son Robert and wife Debbie Geambazi, grandchildren Robert and Lindsey Neal, Mark Neal, Nicholas Geambazi and fiancé, Jennifer DeAugustines and Christina and Robert Hubbard. She is also survived by sisters Betty Balamaci, Margaret Gell, Catherine Broadbin and brother Chris Cashavelly and wife Cynthia, and dear sister-in-law Florence Geambazi. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth is predeceased by sisters Mary Bickey, Alice Bullard, Leona Pandaru and Constance Cashavelly.
Calling hours will take place on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm with Trisagion services at 6 pm in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St Bridgeport. Friends are invited to attend the Rite of Burial on Friday September 13, 2013 at 11:30 am “DIRECTLY” at St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd, Easton with the Rev. Cornel Todeasa and Rev. George Coca officiating, followed by interment in Mt. Grove of Easton Cemetery. I
