Androniki (Chachi) Demake
WORCESTER Androniki (Chachi) Demake, 82, of Worcester, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 19, 2010 in her home.
Androniki is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Nickolas Demake; two sons, James Demake and his wife Carole of Auburn and George Demake and his wife Angela of Worcester; two daughters, Elaine Rocheford and her husband George of Lutz, FL and Lisa Mielnicki and her husband Anthony of Oxford; a brother, Gregory Chachi and a sister, Lillian Chachi both of Worcester; four adored grandchildren, Nick, Christopher, Andrew and Stephanie; 8 step grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Androniki was born in Worcester, a daughter of Dimitri and Maria (Pano) Chachi. She grew up in Worcester graduated from Commerce High School and lived more than 30 years in Shrewsbury before returning to Worcester.
She worked as an office assistant for State Mutual Insurance more than 25 years before retiring in 1990. She previously worked in the sales department for Table Talk Pies.
Androniki was an active and very involved member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and a member and former treasurer of its ladies Society. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially vacationing on Cape Cod and in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with them. She enjoyed the special times her and her husband shared traveling around the country together. She was a great cook and baker for her family and her church. Her family was her main inspiration in life and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Androniki’s funeral service will be held Friday, July 23rd at 10:00 a.m in St Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold St., Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, July 22nd from 4 p.m to 8 p.m in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester and again on Friday, July 23rd from 9 a.m to 10 a.m in the church prior to the service. A Trisagion Service will be celebrated Thursday July 22nd at 6:30 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Nicholas Orthodox Church Building Fund, 34 Gold St., Shrewsbury.
