Our third year of Aromanian language classes for English-speakers is well underway, with 15 students divided among 2 weekly classes at the Beginner level. The online courses represent a historic collaboration between the Society Farsharotu in the U.S. and the Vlach Societies of Athens and Veria in Greece. The academic year runs from November 2024 through May 2025.

OUR NEW MUSEUM AND LIBRARY

We recently began work on a new museum and Library in Easton, Connecticut. When completed, it will house our collection of costumes and artifacts from the old country, our archives, and our library of nearly 400 volumes, many of which are quite rare. We hope to announce its opening in mid-2025.

DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE AROMANIANS IN GREECE

The 2024 Thessaloniki Documentary Festival included a new film about our people titled Armani — i Vlachi (Aromanians: the Vlachs), made by Michael Kamaka, a journalist in Greece. Many non-Vlachs in Greece think the term “Vlach” means something like “shepherd” or “country bumpkin” — the idea of this film was to explain that it actually means “Aromanian” as well as who the Aromanians are. We can only hope it succeeds!
