    WORCESTER – The servant of God, Victoria (Lupu) Chachi of Worcester formerly of Woonsocket, RI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family.

    Victoria’s husband of sixty years, Gregory Chachi passed away July 16, 2011. She is survived by her son, Thomas Chachi and his wife Darlene of Oxford; her two daughters, Diane Bourisk and her husband George of Grafton and Ann Marie Chachi of Worcester with whom she lived; two grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Bourisk; a sister, Florence Gachi of Bridgeport, CT; a sister-in-law, Lillian Chachi with whom she lived; many nieces and nephews.

    Victoria was born in Woonsocket, RI, a daughter of the late, Dimitrie and Costanda (Rega) Lupu and graduated from Woonsocket High School. She moved to Worcester in 1951 and has lived here ever since. Victoria worked for Saint Vincent’s Hospital as a Dietary Aide for forty-one years before retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Shrewsbury, where she was involved in their women’s club and helped at the church when needed. Victoria enjoyed reading and music. She was a fantastic mother and grandmother, lived for her family and was family oriented.

    The Chachi family would like to thank Overlook Hospice, her nurse Jill Cross and her personal care assistants Vanessa and Beverly for the outstanding care and compassion given to Victoria in her time of need.

    Victoria’s funeral service will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 3rd from 3:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester and again on Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m in church prior to the service. A Trisagion service will be celebrated on Sunday, February 3rd at 5:00 p.m in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to: St. Nicholas Orthodox Church Building Fund, 34 Gold Street, Shrewsbury, MA. 01545. May Victoria rest among the Saints and may her memory be eternal!
